Novara: the paradox of resilient yet at-risk businesses – the solution lies in multilateral compensation

The latest Business Scan 2026 report paints a mixed picture for businesses in Novara: on the one hand, the highest regional risk of insolvency; on the other, the greatest resilience in Piedmont. This snapshot tells the story of businesses accustomed to bouncing back, but which now need new tools to turn their resilience into growth.

According to an analysis by Sevendata, which scrutinised the financial statements and structural indicators of nearly 400,000 Piedmontese companies, 10% of businesses in the province of Novara – almost 3,000 firms – face a real risk of insolvency within 12 months. This figure places the area in first place in the region, although fortunately it remains below the national average of 12.1%.

But there is another side to the coin. These same Novara-based companies boast the highest survival rate in Piedmont (92.9% over the last two years) and are the only ones to show a slight positive trend in regional growth. In short, they are resilient businesses that know how to hold their ground but are clearly navigating rough waters.

The paradox of tied-up liquidity

What does all this mean for a Novara-based entrepreneur? That the risk lies not so much in the business’s own financial strength, but in its ability to convert receivables into liquidity before they become a problem. Sevendata’s analysis identifies economic and financial variables, along with bank overdrafts, as the main warning signs.

The vicious circle is well known: you supply goods or services, wait 60, 90 or even 120 days to be paid, and in the meantime you have to cover wages, suppliers and tax deadlines. It is during this period that companies, even healthy ones, end up accumulating financial pressures that the balance sheets do not always reveal.

The answer is not (just) factoring

Faced with this situation, many businesses turn to traditional tools: invoice advances, bank credit facilities and factoring. However, these are all solutions that come at a cost – often a significant one – and which effectively create new debt to solve a liquidity problem.

But what if money weren’t needed? What if companies could offset their receivables against their mutual payables without a single euro leaving their current account? This is exactly what we offer at Camera di Compensazione, through our Nexyzen platform.

Multilateral netting: mathematics at the service of businesses

Our algorithm automatically identifies ‘netting chains’ within the network: companies that have circular commercial relationships and can unlock mutual liquidity today, without waiting for payment terms and without resorting to financial intermediaries.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Companies join the platform voluntarily

2. The system analyses mutual receivables and payables

3.The algorithm finds the most efficient multilateral netting arrangements

4. Balances are settled without any actual transfer of funds

The result? Immediate liquidity, zero interest, no new debt. And a cost that is just a fraction of that of factoring.

Why is Novara the right place for this

Businesses in Novara have shown they know how to bounce back. They boast an enviable survival rate and a resilience that places them among the region’s leaders. But today, in a climate where the risk of insolvency is real and measurable, resilience alone is no longer enough: financial intelligence is needed.

Multilateral clearing is a tool that rewards precisely those companies that have already shown they can withstand challenges, offering them an immediate competitive advantage. Because in a market where one in ten businesses is at risk, being among those that optimise their working capital can make the difference between surviving and growing.

The time to act is now

Data from Sevendata tells us that the risk is measurable and localised. But it also tells us that businesses in Novara have what it takes to tackle it. What is often lacking is the awareness that there are alternative and more efficient tools for managing liquidity.

At Camera di Compensazione (now Nexyzen), we have developed a solution that transforms a structural problem – late payments – into an opportunity for optimisation. Without taking on new debt, without fixed costs, and with an algorithm that works to find the best solution for all the companies involved.

Because sometimes, the best response to a lack of liquidity isn’t to borrow more money, but to make better use of what you already have.
