From theory to stress testing: the results of backtesting on 800,000 invoices 📈
Anyone working in the world of ERP, business consultancy or fintech knows full well that theory is one thing, but a system’s ability to handle the weight of real-world data is quite another. The difference between an elegant mathematical model and a scalable solution lies entirely here: in the numbers, the volumes, and the complexity of the relationships between economic actors.
For Camera di Compensazione s.r.l., acceptance into the FoundersBoost Spring 2026 Italy programme marked the transition from the conceptual validation phase to that of infrastructure stress-testing. The primary objective was not to verify the theoretical validity of the model, but to test the stability, speed and accuracy of our graph theory-based algorithm when applied to real and complex data flows.
Backtesting was carried out on a massive dataset comprising approximately 800,000 invoices, representing a total eligible turnover of around 80 million euros. The results confirmed the system’s extremely high efficiency:
431 multilateral netting transactions identified and generated by the algorithm.
Over €8 million in liquidity previously tied up in debt/credit cycles, now released and made available.
A netting rate of 9.99%: a volume of liquidity reintroduced into the corporate cash flow at no cost to the financial system.
The most significant strategic aspect lies precisely in this last figure. The optimisation was achieved entirely through algorithmic netting, without the need for bank transfers, credit lines or external bank loans. No financial costs, no credit institutions acting as intermediaries: just the power of distributed computing at the service of corporate liquidity.
The test demonstrated the infrastructure’s effectiveness in transforming latent debt into immediate liquidity for businesses. And it confirmed that the model holds up as the figures grow.
The data tells us that the system holds up. Reality, however, shows us that in Italy its spread hasn’t taken off yet as we hoped.
Francesco Pagano and the team, however, aren’t discouraged: they change perspective, looking to Europe and the world. And they know that to make room abroad, they first need to reinvent themselves. The first step will be a total rebranding: new website, new image, new communication designed on a global scale.
We’ll see how it continues in the next chapter.
